Edward John Kmett

Edward John Kmett was inducted into the Army on January 27, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home of entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as a Technician 5th Grade and telephone and telegraph lineman with Company A of the 99th Signal Battalion in Bismark Archipelago, New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Luzon Islands.

Mr Kmett was awarded the: Meritorious Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and five overseas service bars. 

He was honorably discharged on January 6, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
