Edward J. Wauzynski entered the Army on October 9, 1942.
Mr. Wauzynski served as a Corporal, military policeman, and escort and prisoner of war guard until 1944. He was transferred to the 309th General Hospital of the Sixth Army as a surgical technician on Tinian, Marianna Islands, in the Pacific.
He recalls, "After the atomic bomb was sent from Tinnian, we were sent to Japan where we built a hospital."
Mr. Wauzynski was honorably discharged on February 11, 1946.
