SOLTAU, Edward Henry
Edward Henry Soltau was born on December 5th 1916 to Edward John & Amelia Soltau of Duluth, Minnesota.
Mr. Soltau served in World War II; he enlisted on February 26th 1944. Before going off to war he married Charlotte Mae [Gustafson] on September 14th 1940 and they started a family.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) and by March 5th 1944, had graduated from Kirtland Army Air Field in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the time, his rank was 2nd Lieutenant. (2LT)
LT Soltau was a navigator in the European Theater. He was honorably discharged on September 29th 1945. He went on to serve in the US Air Force Reserves for many years, rising to the rank of Major. (MAJ).
Mr. Soltau died on April 7th 2009 at the age of 92 years in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is buried at Peachtree Memorial Park Cemetery in Norcross, Georgia.
