Edward Flaten Eidam was born on June 23rd 1915 to Edward Lewis & Caroline R. [Flaten] Eidam in St. Paul, Minnesota. The family moved north to Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Eidam was inducted into the Army June 23rd 1944, out of Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as an administrative NCO with the 42nd Quartermaster Battalion (Mobile). He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).
SGT Eidam earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, -and-
- one overseas service bar.
He was honorably discharged May 14th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
After the war, Edward returned home and married Helen Sarah [Sikich]. and they started a family.
Mr. Eidam died on August 30th 1975 in Hibbing at the age of 60 years old. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
