Edward Boben was born on March 10th 1919 to John & Francis [Klum] Boben in Ely, Minnesota.
Mr. Boben inducted into the U.S. Army on March 28th 1941, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.
He served as a warehouse foreman with Headquarters company of the Third Battalion, 253rd Infantry Regiment in Central Europe and Alaska. He rose to the rank of Technician Fifth Grade (TEC5).
TEC5 Boben earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Defense Service Medal with bronze service star,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- six overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged October 5th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Helen Susan [Ceskic] on June 26th 1948 and they started a family.
From his daughter: "Edward Boben served proudly and relived WWII with colorful stories for the rest of his life. Along with his three brothers: John (Army), Stanley (Army) and Albin (Navy) he never forgot where he came from and where he had been."
Mr. Boben died on October 21st 1994 at 75 years of age.
