Edmond M. Haapaniemi

Edmond M. Haapaniemi of Virginia, Minnesota, entered the Army on October 12, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He attended Adjutant General's Officer Candidate School at Fort Washington, Maryland and was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers on January 6, 1944.

He served in the 112th Engineer (C) Group in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Haapaniemi was awarded the European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged June 23, 1946 at Frankfurt, Ger.
