Dorothy M. Rust (nee Taylor) was commissioned in the USNR Nurse Corps in Jan., 1943. She entered active Navy duty on March 30, 1944.

She was a Lieutenant (jg) and registered charge nurse in the United States.

She recalls, "April, 1945, my Marine fiance came back from Iwo Jima. We were married Aug. 11, 1945 [see John M. Rust below]. I was discharged on Nov. 7, 1945 and joined my husband in Camp Lejeune, N.C."
