Donald Warren Anderson enlisted in the Naval Reserve 1935. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.
He served as a Seaman Second Class on the USS Paducah, Ninth Naval Dist. In 1942, he was assigned to the USS Miatonamaha at Norfolk, Virginia.
He attended service school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was assigned to the commissioning crew of the new battleship USS Missouri at Brooklyn, New York, as a Watertender First Class. He was present aboard the Missouri during the formal signing of documents declaring the surrender of the Japanese forces.
Awarded: American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.
Honorably discharged October 9, 1945, Great Lakes, Illinois.
