Donald C. Myntti served in World War II.
He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in October of 1942. He attended Midshipman School at Cornell University, and he was commissioned as an Ensign in November of 1945. He served as deck officer on the USS Garrard (APA-84), a Gilliam-class attack transport in March of 1946. He was assigned to the USS Octavia (AF-46), an Adria-class stories ship, where he served as engineering officer. He was discharged on June 8, 1946.
He returned to reserve duty as an officer. He was called back to active duty during the Korean War and assigned to the USS Natchaug (AOG-54), a gasoline tanker, from December of 1951 until April of 1953. He was a lieutenant (junior grade) and served as engineering officer.
Mr. Myntti returned to reserve duty. He retired as a lieutenant commander in September of 1963.
Mr. Myntti was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, the American Campaign Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Myntti was raised in Ely, Minnesota.

Donald C. Myntti of Ely, Minnesota was enlisted in the Naval Reserve in October, 1942. He attended the Midshipman School at Cornell University in New York and became a commissioned ensign in November, 1945. He was a deck officer on the USS Garrard (APA 84) until March, 1946. He was also an engineering officer on the USS Octavia (AF 46) until he was released from active duty on June 8, 1946. He was an inactive reserve officer in Duluth until recalled to active duty on the USS Natchaug (AOG 54) as a lieutenant JG and an engineering officer from December, 1951 to April, 1953. He was then an inactive reserve officer in Duluth from December 1953 until being discharged as a lieutenant commander in September 1963. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, American Campaign Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged on June 8, 1946.
