Denis A. Schramke

Denis A. Schramke served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Berlin Crisis. He served in the U.S. Navy, the Navy Reserve, the Wisconsin National Guard, and the Army Reserve.
From 1942 to 1946 he traveled throughout the Atlantic and Pacific while serving on several Destroyers, including the U.S.S. K.D. Bailey (DD-DDR 713), and later with CASU 26 (Carrier Aircraft Service Unit).
From 1951 to 1952, he was recalled by the Navy Reserve to serve during the Korean War. In 1959, he joined the Wisconsin National Guard; he was called up for the Berlin Crisis (1961-1967). He retired from the Army Reserve at Fort Eustice, Virginia, in 1985.
Denis was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, in July of 1925, and was the son of John and Anna (Hafner) Schramke. He attended DePadua High School. A resident of Ashland, Wisconsin, he died on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at age 82.
