He was a Private and an aircraft armorer-gunner with the 2518th Army Air Forces Base Unit, 15th Air Force in the North Apennines and Po Valley in Italy and in the Rhineland and Central Europe
He received the: Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.
He was discharged on Oct. 31, 1945 at Truax Field, Wis.
