Daniel Madich enlisted in the Army on October 19, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as a Private First Class and clerk typist with Company B of the 819th Engineer Aviation Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.
Mr. Madich was awarded the following: Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars and three overseas service bars
He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wis.
He also served in the Army as a 1st Lieutenant in the infantry from January 16, 1951, to November 11, 1953. He was wounded in action in Korea.
Mr. Madich was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Medal
He was honorably discharged from Fort Lewis, Wash.
