CHRISTOFFERSON, Colburn Fredrick
Colburn Fredrick Christofferson was born on November 16th 1909 to Colburn Nicholas & Lottie [Billings] Christofferson in Hibbing Minnesota.
Mr. Christofferson of Hibbing, Minnesota entered the U.S. Army on July 21st 1943. Just before reporting for service he married Ann A. [Mastakoski] on July 31st 1941, in Ironwood, MI.
Christofferson was involved in automotive maintenance with HQ and Service Company, 43rd Engineer Battalion, in New Guinea and in the Philippines. He rose to the rank of Corporal (CPL).
CPL Christofferson earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, -and-
- American Campaign Service Medal.
He was honorably discharged on November 2nd 1945. After the war he returned home to his wife in Hibbing and they raised their family.
Mr. Christofferson died on September 25th 1961 at 51 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
