Clifford R. Pernu of Brittmount, Minnesota was inducted into the Army Air Corps on March 28, 1941.
He was a Sergeant and a radio operator-gunner-mechanic with the 723rd Bomber Squadron (Heavy): serving at Rome-Arno, North Apennines and the Po Valley in Italy and the Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Pernu received the: Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal with a bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and four overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Sept. 27, 1945.
