Claude August Wollak served in World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Wollak served in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the battleship USS North Carolina. He served in the V Division (aviation unit) as an Aviation Metalsmith Third Class.
He recalls: “I spent 27 months on the battleship USS North Carolina (BB55) which included time in the South Pacific, and entering Tokyo Bay for peace signing ceremonies, and midshipmen training cruises after the end of World War II.”
Mr. Wollak was decorated with the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
Mr. Wollak was born in 1927 in Royalton, Minnesota, the son of Nick and Josephine Wollak.
