Clarence Monroe Carney Jr. was born on May 23rd 1924 to Clarence Monroe Sr. & Sylvia [Currie] Carney in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Carney was inducted into the U.S. Army Air Corps on May 26th 1943.
He was a radio operator/mechanic with the 375th Troop Carrier Group, 56th Squadron, in the Philippines. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).
SGT Carney earned the following merits for his service:
- Air Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Service Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, -and-
- Philippine Liberation Medal.
He was honorably discharged on March 8th 1946. After the war he returned home and married Goldie Lorraine [Clauson] on June 17th 1950 and they started a family.
Mr. Carney died on October 23rd 2006 at 82 years of age in International Falls, Minnesota. He is buried at Ft. Snelling Neational Cemetery in Minnespolis, Minnesota.
