Mr. Bowers inducted into the Navy on January 5, 1943, at Kansas City, Missouri.

He served as a Quartermaster First Class aboard the USS Coolbaugh in the Pacific Theater.

He received the following: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars and World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Bowers was honorably discharged on November 23, 1945, in Shoemaker, California.
