Charles J. Malevich of Eveleth was inducted into the Army on April 17, 1941.
He was a Staff Sergeant with Company E, 135th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division in Naples-Foggia, Italy. He was wounded in action in Italy on Oct. 27, 1943.
He was awarded the: Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with a bronze battle star, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He received a disability discharge Aug. 15, 1947 at Fitzsimmons Army General Hospital, Denver, Colo.
