She served as a Corporal and clerk-typist with the 1466th Army Air Forces Base Unit in the Pacific Theater.

Ms. Grekela was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Woman’s Army Corps Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and one overseas service bar

She was honorably discharged May 28, 1946. at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
