Carroll W. Brockway

Mr. Brockway entered the Army, and served as a Corporal and glider infantryman in Normandy, France. Glider landed intact with officers and equipment at seven a.m. in Normandy, France, on June 7, 1944. Was in almost continuous action for 33 hours. Moving so fast through German lines that US intelligence was unable to keep track of them. Captured German prisoners by taking their weapons and having them walk to the U.S. lines and someone would take charge.

Mr. Brockway died of wounds received in action on June 14, 1944, in France.
