Carl O. Makela of Orr, Minn. was inducted into the Army on March 22, 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private First Class with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 345th Infantry Regiment in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Makela received the: Combat Infantryman Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on Dec. 20, 1945 at Camp Fannin, Tex.
