Carl John Watsula, Sr. served during World War II in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 until 1946.
Mr. Watsula was born and raised at Meadowlands, Minnesota. He graduated from Meadowlands High School in June of 1944.
He was a Radarman 3rd Class on the USS Jerauld. The vessel transported troops home from the South Pacific and carried occupation forces to Japan at the end of World War II.
Mr. Watsula was discharged at the time the ship was decommissioned.
