SUNDSTROM, Carl Gustaf Runar
Carl Gustaf Runar Sundstrom was born on April 16th 1919 to Gustav Adolph & Alma Serafina [Pollari] Sundstrom in French River, Minnesota.
Mr. Sundstrom entered the U.S. Army on June 27th 1941 before the U.S. involvement in WWII. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.
He served as an infantryman, and motorcyclist with the 36th Armored Infantry in the Normandy landing, France, Belgium, and German occupation. He rose to the rank of Technician Fifth Grade (TEC5)
TEC Sundstrom was wounded in action during the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was discharged on October 21st 1945, at Winter General Hospital, Topeka, Kansas. After the war he returned home and married Muriel Benson on September 1st 1945 and they started a family.
Mr. Sundstrom died on April 16th 1990 at 71 years of age.
