RUHANEN, Carl Edward
Carl Edward Ruhanen was born on on April 15th 1926 to Gustav & Eliina [Holmaa] Ruhanen in Duluth, Minnesota. He graduated from Duluth Denfeld High School in 1944.
Mr. Ruhanen was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 9th 1944 at Ft. Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He served in World War II in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He served from June 4th 1944, until May 11th 1946. He was assigned to the 400th Engineer Maintenance Company, 5th Army. His rank was Technician 3rd Class (TEC3)
He often recalled celebrating his 19th birthday in Italy and his 20th birthday in Japan during his service.
After the war he returned home and married Beverly Violet [Archambeau] and they started a family.
Mr. Ruhanen died on January 15th 2023 at 96 years of age in Duluth.
