STRAND, Burdette Orlo
Burdette Orlo Strand was born on October 28th 1927 to Nels & Violet Mae (Edwards) Strand in Hibbing, Minnesota.
The family moved to Duluth, Minnesota where Burdette registered for military service.
Mr. Strand began his service on the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CV-19) in the Navy on February 2nd 1946. The Hancock served in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater, earning four battle stars.
He rose to the rank of Seaman 2nd Class.
After the war S2C Strand returned home to Duluth and worked in the Fond Du Lac area.
Mr. Strand died on October 2nd 2003 at the age of 75. He is buried at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, California.
