Mr. Ballantini enlisted in the Regular Army on September 17, 1940, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Virginia, Minnsesota.
He served as a Staff Sergeant and a reconnaissance car crewman with the 75th Reconaissance Troop of the Third Infantry Division in Sicily. He was wounded in action near Palma, Sicily, on July 10, 1943.
He received the following: Soldiers Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, American Defense Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Ballantini was honorably discharged on January 20, 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
