PETERSON, Blanche Marguerite [nee Shoquist] {Erickson}
Blanche Marguerite Shoquist was born on June 25th 1920 to Oscar Leonard & Mabel Caroline [Dispen] Shoquist in Frost, Minnesota. The family moved to Virginia, Minnesota. She attended Roosevelt High School.
Ms. Shoquist married Army Veteran Bernard G. Erickson on 26 December 1941 just days after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and just months before he was shipped off to North Africa in 1942.
Mrs. Erickson (nee Shoquist) enlisted in the U.S. Army on January 1st 1944 during WWII. She rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
Her husband Bernard was taken as a Prisoner of War (POW) and last heard from in January 1945 and officially listed as Missing in Action (MIA). He was declared deceased on March 8th 1946.
PFC Erickson was honoarably discharged on December 1st 1945. After the war she then married another fellow Army Vet Alfred N. Peterson and they started a family.
Mrs. Peterson died on May 18th 2005 in Virginia, Minnesota at 84 years of age. she is buried at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
