Bill Dohorty

Commander Bill Dohorty shares his World War II experience in the following excerpt:

"In late 1944, I was involved in the liberation of a Nazi concentration camp. As we went through the gates, we were stunned by the smell of death, the thousand bodies laying in pits or railroad cars, especially piles of women and children who apparently just starved to death.

The few inmates still alive shedding tears of gratitude that at last it was over. I noted the many tear-filled eyes of battle weary soldiers, not believing what they were seeing."
