Service as a World War II Navy Wave Bernice Mary Cyrol Bodin was born in Duluth, Minnesota on Oct. 21, 1923, to John and Barbara Drama Cyrol. She attended school in Duluth and graduated from high school in 1941. She attended college for one year and worked as a billing clerk in 1942 and 1943.

She enlisted on Nov. 2, 1943. She reached the rank of yeoman third class petty officer and served in Washington, D.C., the Solomon Islands and at the Great Lakes (Ill.) Navy Station.

She was discharged on Jan. 6, 1946. After her service, she returned to Duluth, Minnesota and worked as a clerk in the Courthouse and with various businesses.

She married Vernon Bodin on May 17, 1952, and had two children, Darlene and Wayne. She held various jobs as they raised their children. She was a caterer for 15 years and a very good cook.

Bernice Cyrol Bodin died on Nov. 2, 1999.

The highest rank she achieved was Seaman 1st class, USNR. She served in Washington DC; Solomons, Maryland; and Great Lakes, Illinois where she was discharged on January 6, 1946.

She married Vernon Harold Bodin in May 17, 1952.

Vernon also served in the Navy, from January 6th 1942 to December 6, 1946.
