PREBIL, Bernard Charles
Bernard Charles "Charlie" Prebil was born on August 21st 1916 to Bernard Sr. & Johana [Cesare] in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Prebil was inducted into the Army on March 12th 1941, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.
He served as an administrative NCO with Company E of the 275th Infantry Regiment in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of First Sergeant. (1SGT).
SGT Prebil earned the following merits for his service:
- Bronze Star Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, -and-
- three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on October 19th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Dorothy M. [Badiali] on September. 30th 1946
Mr. Prebil died on February 19th 1996 at 79 years of age. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
