Axel Mattila was inducted into the Army on March 27, 1942.

Mr. Mattila received the: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, American Campaign Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.

He was discharged on Oct. 3, 1943 from  Bushnell Army General  Hospital, Brigham City, Utah.
