Arvid E. Tonkyro was inducted into the Army Air Corps on August 7, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. 

He served as a Private First Class with Squadron A of the 443rd Army Air Forces Base Unit in the continental U.S.

Mr. Tonkyro was honorably discharged on September 21, 1945, at San Bernadino, California.
