He was navigator on the B-24J-45 Liberator, serial number 42-73453. The Liberator crashed on September 1, 1944. It was hit by Japanese anti-aircraft fire, it crashed into the sea between Koror and Babeldaub. Three other crew members bailed out and made it to village. They were captured by the Japanese and later executed.
