Arthur Borg Borgeson

Mr. Borgeson entered the Navy on December 9, 1941. Home at entry: Duluth, Minnesota.

He served as a Machinist's Mate Third Class aboard the minesweeper USS Superior and patrol craft in the Atlantic, Caribbean, and Pacific. He swept mines off Iwo Jima with 65 minesweepers and five antiaircraft destroyers. He also swept mines and landed on Okinawa on Easter Sunday 1945. Swept mines and invaded Ie Shima. Swept mines in the waters off the East China Sea in preparation for the invasion of Japan. "Lots of Kamikazes."  Also swept mines off Korea and the Yellow Sea and landed troops on the 38th Parallel.

He was separated in September 1945.
