REINI, Arne Oiva
Arne Oiva Reini was born on February 27th 1919 to John & Maria “Mary” Gustava [Hakala] Reini in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
Mr. Reini was inducted into the U.S. Army on November 7th 1941 during WWII.
He served as a medium tank gunner with Company A, 50th Armored Infantry Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was wounded in action on August 17th 1944. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT).
SGT Reini earned the following merits for his service:
- Purple Heart,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with 5 bronze battle stars,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- 4 overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on September 27th 1945. After the war he returned home and married Martha Ellen [Montayne] in 1954.
Mr. Reinin died on November 7th 1987 at 68 years of age. He is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Palmers, Minnesota.
