Anton J. Garvas of Eveleth, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on March 10, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Technician 5th Grade and truck driver with the 941st Ordnance Motor Vehicle Distribution Company in Rome-Arno, Naples Foggia and North Apennines, Italy.
Mr. Garvas was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged Oct. 31, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
