Anthony J. Matanich of Aurora enlisted in the Navy on May 5, 1934. He was discharged on Feb. 24, 1938, but re-enlisted on Feb. 2, 1942.
He was a Chief Aviation Machinist's Mate in aircraft maintenance and repair. He served with Headquarters Squadron 12, CASU 4; Scout Observation Service Unit 1; VSI D-7 in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Matanich received the: Good Conduct Medal with a star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was discharged on Jan. 28, 1946 at Shoemaker, Calif.
