Anthony John Veselwas born on June 24th 1916 to Mathias & Katherine [Starich] Vesel in Soudan, Minnesota.
Mr. Vesel was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 16th 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Home at entry: Soudan.
He served as a battery aid man with the Medical Detachment of the 385th Field Artillery Battalion and 104th Infantry Division in Northern France and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Vesel earned the following merits for his service:
- Bronze Star Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on October 14th 1945, at Camp San Luis Obispo, California.
Mr. Vesel died on May 2nd 1985 at 68 years of age. He is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Tower, Minnesota.
