Andrew Levchak Jr. was born on June 14th 1914 to Andrew Sr. & Barbara [Durkota] Levchak in Old Messabe, Minnesota.
Mr. Levchak Jr. of Chisholm, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on April 29th 1942.
He served as a construction machine operator with the Headquarters and Service Company in the 835th Engineer Battalion in Naples-Foggia and Rome-Arno, Italy. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).
TEC4 Levchak earned the following merits for his service:
- Army Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on September 19th 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Marjorie L.[Champa] in 1946 and they started a family.
Mr. Levchak died on March 2nd 1970 at the age of 60 years of age in Chisholm, Minnesota. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
