Alexander N. Lahti of Iron was inducted into the Army on September 16, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private and a rifleman with Company C, 112th Infantry Regiment, in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland Campaigns. He was wounded in action in France on August 9, 1944 and in Germany on September 17, 1944.
Mr. Lahti received the: Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, and European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars.
He was disability discharged on June 16, 1945 at Percy Jones Hospital Center in Fort Custer, Mich.
