PECHOVNIK, Albin Louis
Albin Louis Pechovnik was born on February 20th 1922 to Gregor & Mary Pechovnik in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Pechovnik was inducted into the U.S. Army on October 14th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.
He served as a carpenter with Company E of the 159th Infantryman Regiment in the Aleutians. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Pechovnik earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- American Campaign Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on December 11th 1945, at Fort Ord, California. After the war he returned home and married Jane Marie [Barber] on December 4th 1959 and they started a family.
Mr. Pechovnik died on August 29th 1988 at 66 years of age in Hibbing, Minnesota. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm.
