NYBERG, Albert Wilbur

Albert Wilbur Nyberg was born on March 27th 1921 to William Robert &  Esther C. [Norton] Nyberg in Cokato, Minnesota.

Mr. Nyberg was inducted into the Army Air Corps, on November 25th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.

He served as a Sergeant and a dope and fabric mechanic with the 42nd Air Service Squadron of the 329th Air Service Group in India Burma.

SGT Nyberg was awarded the following:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal,
  • World War II Victory Medal  and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged December 13, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

After the war Mr. Nyberg married Edna Mae [Allison] in 1958 and they raised a family. Albert died on March 11th 1982 at the age of 61 in Hibbing, Minnesota. He is buied at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
