ZEBOTT, Albert Keith
Albert Keith Zabott was born on March 15th 1920 to Roy Ernest & Lydia [Grumley] Zebott in Proctor, Minnesota. The family moved to Hibbing Minnesota. He graduated from Hibbing High School.
Mr. Zabott entered the regular U.S. Navy on January 16th 1941.
He served as an air crewman and Air Controlman Chief (control tower) at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida and at Yonabaru, Okinawa during WWII.
Mr. Zebott shared the following: "I was an air crewman on a reconnaissance and photo flight over Hiroshima and Nagasaki several days after the A-bomb was dropped. I retired from the Navy on August 1, 1960, after 20 years of service. My last duty station was at the Naval Air Station in Quonset Point, Rhode Island."
After the war he returned home and married Doris Margaret [Greenwood] in 1946 and they started a family.
Mr. Zebott died on July 14th 2012 at 92 years of age in Chisholm, Minnesota. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
