SERRANO, Thomas Robert

Thomas Robert Serrano was born on August 8th 1943 to Dominick & Pearl Emily [simonson] Serrano. His hometown was Kelly Lake, Minnesota.

Mr. Serrano was inducted into the service of the U.S. Army on April 13th 1965 and served during the Vietnam War. His role was that of an Army medic with the Company C, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Division.

SP5 Serrano was killed in action on November 19th 1966 by a  artillery rocket mortar. He along with 16 others were caught in a vicious fight which became known as the "Battle of Dragon Crater" in the Plei Trap River valley in western Kontum Province.  

He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing, Minnesota. He is also honored on the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC.
