Steven G. Abbott

Lt. Abbott was part of the United States Army until he was killed in action on May 12, 1968 near the Demilitarized Zone in Vietnam. The helicopter he was flying was shot down.
Lt. Abbot entered the Army in February 1966. He was a 1964 graduate of Two Harbors High School and attended UMD. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Two Harbors.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart posthumously. He also recieved the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign ribbon and Sharpshooter Badge with rifle bar.
His parents were Mr. & Mrs. John B. Abbott. His siblings were Sherri, Larry and Dennis.
