Lt. Col. Mitchell Ahiers of Cloquet, Minnesota retired from the United States Marines after 28 years of faithful service.

He graduated from Cloquet High School in 1968, and attended college at Southwest Minnesota State University.

After enlisting November, 1972, he attended Officers Candidate School in January of 1973. He served with the 3rd Marine Division outside of Okinawa.

Mitchell ended his active-duty career in late June of 2001.
