BRONCZYK, Lawrence Joseph

Lawrence Joseph Bronczyk was born to Stanley Lawrence & Rosella [Vandegriff] Bronczyk on June 25th 1948. His hometown was Gilbert, Minnesota.

Mr. Bronczyk was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1967 during the Vietnam War. He served with the 173rd Airbourne Brigade, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 'D' Company. His specialty was Light Weapons Infantry.

He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT). He earned the following merits for his service:

  • Purple Heart (posthumously),
  • National Defense Service Medal,
  • Vietnam Service Medal,
  • Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation,
  • Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal,  -and-
  • Parachutist Badge.

 

SGT Bronczyk was killed on May 12nd 1968 at 19 years of age while serving in action in the Binh Dinh Province of South Vietnem. He died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered from the field of battle.

He was repatriated home and was buried at Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik, Minnesota. He is also honored with his name inscribed on Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC.
