Carl Henry Dahlin

Mr. Dahlin served during the Vietnam War.

He had completed ROTC training while a student at the University of Wisconsin, Superior, after which he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He served on active duty with the Air Force for seven years, during which time he was based in Thailand flying air support ground missions in Vietnam.

Mr. Dahlin joined the Minnesota Air National Guard in 1980. He flew F-4 Phantoms and F-16 Falcons and was named the Flying Squadron Commander of the 148th Fighter Wing, a role that he truly loved. “Tomato” retired from the Minnesota Air National Guard in 1998 as a Lieutenant Colonel after 26 years of service.

He was born on March 4, 1950, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Carl and Marcia Dahlin. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Superior in 1972.

Mr. Dahlin died at age 57 on November 14, 2007, in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
