Sergeant E-5 Bruce LaDuke of Cloquet, MN was drafted into the Army on November 10, 1969.
After training at Fort Hood, Texas, he served with the Battery A 5th Battalion, 14th Artillery, 2nd Armed Division in the 5th U.S. Army. While out on a Search and Destroy Mission in Cambodia, his group was ambushed; Bruce found himself in a "real battle." He went into tunnels as a "tunnel rat" with a 45 gun and knife.
Bruce received the:
National Defense Service Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars,
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and
Good Conduct Medal;
he attained ranks of Expert and Marksman with the M-16 and M-14 Rifles respectively.
He was honorably discharged on July 30, 1971.
