Bernard “Bernie” Gene Backstrom

He served in the Army Reserves.

He served in the 194th Armored Division of the Minnesota National Guard. In the early 1970s, he was Superintendent of Northeastern Minnesota National Guard Armories.

He was a Major.

He was born on November 2, 1944, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Petra Backstrom.

He graduated from Hermantown High School.

He died in his home in Canosia Township, Minnesota, on Wednesday, February 20, 2008.
